Makeup Tutorial: MAC Goldmine, MUG Peacock, Shimma Shimma, Urban Decay Smog

May 2, 2012 by Bun Bun 12 Comments

The best way to test your makeup skills and speed is to go on holiday. Haha! I am a girly-girl and like to travel in style. Holiday types that require one to rough it out, wear safari-colored clothes, and live in travelers dormitories will never see me a part of them.

I need to have my security blankets -  a clean and safe hotel room, clothes I don’t get to wear in Singapore because of the weather and street style, and my makeup. I have to work faster on the makeup when on holiday though!

If I could, I would show you all 5 days of my makeup looks in Okinawa, but as I had idiotically deleted 80% of my Okinawa photos, I can only show you 1. But better than none!

EYES

Eyeshadow Primer – UDPP Eden

Eyelid – MAC Goldmine

Contour Area – MUG Peacock

Outer V – More MUG Peacock!

Something I Use Every Single Time: MAC Blot Powder Pressed

March 27, 2012 by Bun Bun 11 Comments

What?!?!

Before I even had the time to write a fabulous review on the MAC Blot Powder Pressed, it has unknowingly panned out on me! I didn’t expect it… I only use it erm, every single time I apply makeup… Heh heh.

I tried my hardest to like loose powder; I’ve tried the range from expensive ones like NARS to drugstore ones like e.l.f. I could never deal with the hassle of being very careful not to get the powder all over the place when I open the cover, take product, close the cover, and the mess of every step of the way.

Loose powders are also not very travel-friendly. You should see how much trouble I went through to transfer the NARS Loose Powder just so that I don’t have to lug a huge container that threatens to spill its contents at each tilt.

For A Matte Finish

Oilies begone with the MAC Blot Powder Pressed? Hmmm, I guess if you have oily/combination skin, then it will keep oil at bay. But I have oily skin, and in the typical hot and humid Singapore weather, the oilies usually start to show probably after 5 hours. For shine to show only after 5 hours means a lot for my oily skin already! If I didn’t use the MAC Blot Powder to set liquid foundation, my face would look greasy in half the time.

Makeup Look: Bourjois Blue Eyeliner + Sugarpill Purple Lower Lashline (And A Wedding Proposal!)

February 10, 2012 by Bun Bun 18 Comments

The trick to make colored eyeliners work is to keep the rest of the eye makeup neutral or not-so-colorful, so that the focus is on the eyeliner. This is the look I wore in the MAC 109 Small Contour Brush review and Bourjois Contour Clubbing Eyeliner review.

Here are the products used:

EYES

Eyeshadow Primer – UDPP Eden

Eyelid – Sugarpill Afterparty

Contour Area – NYX Red Bean

Outer V – None

Highlight – Sugarpill Tako

Inner Corner – Sugarpill Tako

Lower Lash Line – Sugarpill Poison Plum, NYX Dark Brown

Eyeliner  – Bourjois Contour Clubbing Blue Remix Eyeliner, Clio Brush Liner Kill Black

Eyelash Primer – Shiseido Nourishing Mascara Base

Mascara – Clio O’Tank Volume Mascara (this is the crappy mascara I was talking about in the previous post)

Eyebrow – Lioele Auto Eyebrow 02 Dark Brown (Pardon the strays :P )

You Don’t Have To Be In Sunny Singapore To Look Sun-Kissed With The NYC Bronzer In Sunny

February 3, 2012 by Bun Bun 12 Comments

Now you can have the glow of summer air on your face all year round with the New York Color Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder in Sunny!

Actually, without Sunny, it’s still summer all year round here in Singapore. Yay to sweat and stickiness!

But for those who have the luxury of looking pasty white and drawn of blood in the cold, blue, winter months (That’s how they describe it in storybooks like The Little Match Girl), a touch of warmth on the face will naturally leave you feeling like you just cupped a mug of hot chocolate in your hands while it’s snowing outside.

Sheer & Natural Coverage

NYC Bronzer in Sunny is sheer in pigmentation for all the right reasons.

You can swipe your brush across the product and dispense it all over your face to add color and for a natural glow.

You can use it to warm the face when foundation is a little on the lighter side. Whenever I use the Bourjois Flower Perfection Foundation, I tend to use Sunny to bring color back to my face. I gave the Bourjois Flower Perfection Foundation a ‘Quite Good!’ rating (which is 4/5), but recently I find myself using it a lot and actually think it deserves more a ‘This is LOVE!’ rating (5/5).

You can use bronzer to contour the face to make it look more chiseled by receding the sides and temples of the face.
