On Days When You Want To Look Just That Bit Perkier, Try Garnier BB Eye Roll-On Concealer Cum Eye Care

March 23, 2012 by Bun Bun 24 Comments

Tell me, who can resist the ooh-ing and aah-ings made by the guests of the popular Taiwan variety show Nu Ren Wo Zui Da make when the makeup/skincare/hair care coaches introduce products and new techniques?!?

I have a love-hate relationship with Nu Ren Wo Zui Da. I try as much as possible not to type in the words on YouTube because I always end up feeling exasperated at not being able to get hold of the highly raved products mentioned. Firstly, they never ever state the brand or product name; secondly, they try SO HARD to hide any indication at all with their hands and camera angles! Ugh! Sometimes I’ll try searching for the entire episode’s title + ‘chan pin (products)’, but more often than not I don’t get any results. Maybe there are Taiwanese websites that share these info freely but I CANNOT FIND. Booo… :(

There are no subtitles for this video; you can ask me questions in the comment section below if you need clarification on specific parts of the videos. Meanwhile, I’ll try my best to include as much information as possible in English in my Garnier BB Eye Roll-On review.

It was pure luck and genius that I managed to find the Garnier BB Eye Roll-On one day in Guardian and immediately knew it was the one Kelvin lao shi (as he is affectionately known. lao shi = teacher) was using! YES!!!

I must’ve had a sip of Felix Felicis (‘liquid luck’ mentioned in Half-Blood Prince) that day because not only did I find it, it was ON SALE! It normally costs SGD22.90 but I got it for SGD16.90. There was no reason not to grab it. I initially got ‘Light’ without realizing, and swapped for ‘Natural’ after paying for it. I didn’t want to risk having white patches under my eye.

I am MAC NC20-25 for reference, and Natural is just nice.

Can the Murad Oil-Control Mattifier SPF 15 Keep Oily Skin Shine-Free?

August 23, 2011 by Bun Bun 8 Comments

Many women think they are cursed with an oily T-zone, where oil glands work overtime at the forehead, nose and chin areas. Well, if they saw how soaked my blotting sheet is after a blotting session, they’d feel blessed that oiliness is concentrated only at their T-zone instead of the WHOLE FACE like mine.

I try as many methods and products possible (within reasonable budget and common sense, of course) to keep my face as shine-free as possible, at least for a good half of the day.

Mineral makeup worked up the oils on my skin within 2 hours and accentuated my pores, makeup face primers like the Stila Hydrating Primer turned me into an oil slick, liquid foundations that claim to give the ‘glowy finish’ usually give me the ‘greasy finish’ and sometimes even setting it with loose powder barely works.

Sigh, these are just fragments of an oily girl’s woes.

When I chanced upon a review on Youtube about the Murad Oil Control Mattifier SPF 15 being a great product that helps to keep shine away, I was immediately interested! Anything that controls oil!

The Body Shop Sale 17-20 Aug 2011 – 70% OFF!

August 21, 2011 by Bun Bun 4 Comments

That, is the result of this:

I thought I’d just go and take a look, maybe get another tube of the Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream (which I love!) and a second bottle of the Tea Tree Skin Clearing Toner.

But who can walk away from a 70% off sale with just only that? XD

Watsons Birthday Haul With 5x Bonus Points!

July 17, 2011 by Bun Bun 5 Comments

Yay hayyyyyyyy! It’s finally my birthday!

There is always a good reason or two to splurge on makeup and skincare products and the reason for this month is very obvious!

Watsons rewards its members with 1 point for every S$5 purchase. And for every 20 points, you get S$1 off your purchase, meaning I have to spend S$100 to redeem W$1.

So to fully redeem my Rimmel Glam Eyes Mascara which cost…. I can’t remember… maybe around S$17?, I had to use 340 points. Not bad at all considering I’d have bought so many things from Watsons even without the membership rewards.

Wait a minute.

The 340 points were earned from spending…… S$1700.00!!!!!!

ZOMG! Watsons earns a lot from me! >.<”

W$1 = 20 points = S$100

W$17 = 340 points = S$1700

SHUCKS! How did I manage to buy so many things from Watsons?! And the Rimmel mascara isn’t the only item I’ve redeemed before.

*feels guilty and runs to a corner to repent*

Okie, I feel better now.

Anyway, it’s my birthday month! So I get 5 times bonus points on the first purchase of the month! YAY! I made a list of the items I wanted to get from Watsons for the month of July, and made sure I didn’t miss anything out so that I wouldn’t waste the bonus points.

Moisturizer For Oily Skin: The Body Shop Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream Review

June 5, 2011 by Bun Bun 10 Comments

I thought the problem laid with the type of primer or foundation I was using. The MUFE HD Primer would make my face greasy by lunch time, and even MAC Studio Fix Plus Foundation could not keep the shine on my face away.

If oil-control powder foundation does nothing for me, what hope would I find in liquid foundation?

The Body Shop Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream made me realize that sometimes it’s not about buying the best, most expensive, or highly raved makeup – it’s about what goes under before makeup.

The absence of any ‘mattifying’ or ‘oil-control’ claims in my previous moisturizer, Lancome Blanc Expert Ultimate Whitening Hydrating Emulsion Moist, kept my face oily throughout the day. It always felt like it just sat on my skin like a big fat blanket of lard . With all that oiliness you’d think it was doing a good job at moisturizing, but no, it did nothing. No moisturizing, no whitening, only greasiness.

The Body Shop  SeaWeed Mattifying Day Cream I really bought in a desperate attempt to find a moisturizer that falls between drugstore and high-end. When I used it the first time, I remember falling in love with the scent and texture, and could feel my skin less oily during the day.

Here’s my review on The Body Shop SeaWeed Mattifying Day Cream:
