Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Blogger Event: Of Pyjamas, Candles And Some Boob Talk

August 31, 2012 by Bun Bun 8 Comments

What do pyjamas, candles and boob talk have in common? Yes!! A pyjamas partaayyy!!!

Only that I didn’t get to have the boob talk at the actual event. You’ll see in a while.

When I got invited for the event I didn’t expect to be that special and fun! Oh I never expect anything out of any event anyway coz every one is always different.

On the eve of the event my blog manager Gabby texted me to come dressed in pyjamas and I was like ‘HUH? Pyjamas?! Why so weird?’ but in my heart my reaction was more like ‘YAYYY!!! HAPPY!!!’. LOL.

How I LUURRVVEEE themed parties! School uniform, Geeky, Shanghai, Wondergirls (HAHA!), Cowboy, etc. I love dressing up specially for an event; going through all the costumes, makeup, hair makes me ~high~. That’s why I LOVE Halloween!

OMG! That’s in less than two months!!!

A themed party makes the experience more wholesome, the energy more united and everyone more in tuned with one another. It’s like having a shared, sacred memory.

I love themed outings, but one thing I no longer do is wear couple clothing.

It’s so… um… un-adult-like. Maybe coz we’re both 28 and way over the let’s-get-cute-together-and-let-everyone-know-we’re-an-item stage. Kinda passe, you know what I mean? We’ve been together since secondary school. Yea, we did the couple clothing thing back then. That’s why I felt a little, teeny, tiny awkward when we went out in BRIGHT orange top and off-white shorts/berms just recently. Hoho.

Unintentional mitchy-matchy couple tops *shy*

How To Lighten Your Brows With Kate Eyebrow Color Mascara: Useful For Dark Eyebrows

May 29, 2012 by Bun Bun 8 Comments

I used to think that being blessed with naturally thick and dark eyebrows meant I never had to worry about filling my brows. I went for the occasional eyebrow shaping, but never busied myself with filling them in.

Thus, up till just a couple of years ago, I’ve always walked around with dark but unfilled eyebrows, no matter the dye color of my hair or whether or not I had bangs. (Do I see you nodding?)

Now, I fill in my brows 98% of the time. 2% for the very rare times where I really don’t have time, and would spend the rest of the day feeling like everyone must be staring at my yellow-brow hair with stark black brow hairs. That’s not true, I know. With only 40% of the female population in Singapore bothering to wear any trace of makeup at all, I should look and feel right at home.

But I’m a beauty blogger now and people do come up to me and say hello so I must always look put together. *flicks hair

HAHAHA! Just kidding! Even if nobody knew me, I’d still always want to put my best face forward. I don’t mind going out without makeup – restricted to the neighborhood and I don’t give a **** when I’m sick – but when I do, I definitely will not ignore my brows now. It’s just bring responsible to my whole self-presentation.

And even though I have bangs that cover my brows, there’s always the chance that wind will blow them out of place!

Okie, let’s get going with how to lighten your brows with the Kate Brow Color. I like to call it brow mascara, it just has more meaning to it.

If you have dyed your hair much lighter than the typical chestnut-browns or reddish-browns on the heads of most Asian girls, you would probably find that a normal eyebrow pencil does nothing to lighten your brows, not even the lightest of shades.

With my hair dyed yellow-brown with very light-colored highlights thus making me look yellow over all, no brow pencil could ever cover the black of my brow hairs.

See how incoherent the color of my hair and brows look!

So That You Can Get Your Brows Filled In 10 Seconds, Get The Lioele Artist Auto Eyebrow Pencil!

March 26, 2012 by Bun Bun 31 Comments

We can’t go running to the store or click ‘Add to cart’ every time a blogger raves about a ‘Holy Grail product, can we?

Coz if that were really the case, there would be no war in this world since all Beauty Bloggers are people with big hearts and ambassadors of all things beautiful, and the governments would employ us all to spread the message of love and world peace. Lol.

Ah, but then there’s always the lure of the dark side. And that’s why there are bad people in the world in the first place.

I took long enough to buy the Lioele auto eyebrow pencil because I was happy with my NYX Auto Eyebrow Pencil. For a softer and more natural look, I would use The Face Shop Cake Eyebrow too.

Not that I’ve become unhappy with those two excellent eyebrow products, but it’s in my blood to constantly seek change. And great change I experienced when I dyed my hair more yellow-gold and brown than my normal shades of dark brown. The NYX Auto Eyebrow Pencil was simply too brown.

My interest for the Lioele Artist Auto Eyebrow Pencil was piqued when I first watched frmheadtotoe‘s review of it, but it was my readers who got me off my butt and go get it. They were like “you’ve got to try it!”, “it’s the best eyebrow pencil ever!”, “you will love it!!”.

Upon application I immediately understood the enthusiasm of its strong following. The crux of writing this review of the Lioele Auto Eyebrow Pencil is really to tell you:

“GO GET IT!!!” :D

Flat, Angled Tip For Precision

This is how the brand new pencil end looks like – edgily sharp. It may hurt a teeny tiny little when you use it for the first time, and takes a couple of uses before the edges are rounded and feel smooth during application.

Brand new

After some time

NYX Auto Eyebrow Pencil: Cheap And Good Alternative To MAC Eyebrow Pencil

March 21, 2012 by Bun Bun 11 Comments

Before I got started on writing this NYX Automatic Eyebrow Pencil review, I went to read the MAC Automatic Eyebrow Pencil review written 11 months ago. I love reading old posts, they make me realize how much I’ve grown, how my writing style has improved, photography skills have progressed, and some throw me back to the moment when I was writing them, allowing me to relive memories.

If I had access to endless supplies of MAC products without forking out a single cent (your wish, my wish, every makeup obsessed person’s wish), I would say the MAC Eyebrow Pencil is an ideal pencil. There are about 5 shades to choose from on the MAC website (I don’t know why Brunette isn’t one of them. It’s available in MAC Singapore though), a precise tip, and since I have endless free supply to MAC products, I can simply throw one away when I twist it up too much causing the product to break.

But because the probability of that wish coming true is as good as believing that Bun Bun will become a real fairy, and my pocket and brain were telling me there must be as good and cheaper alternatives to the MAC automatic brow pencil out there, I soon found myself in possession of the NYX Auto Eyebrow Pencil.

Pigmented Brow Color

The NYX Automatic Eyebrow Pencil goes on very smoothly, much smoother than those pencils that need manual sharpening, like the Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil (another old post!).

You don’t need a lot of effort to get great color payoff, and this intense pigmentation might be a bane to some since you might have to be light-handed to avoid having dark slugs as brows at first. Once you get the hang of it though, this NYX brow pencil is a great time saver since just a few strokes are needed to alter light-colored brows to defined ones.

NYX Auto Brow Pencil has better staying power than MAC Auto Brow Pencil.

GO DRUGSTORE!!! :D

The Face Shop Face It Designing Cake Eyebrow 01 Beige Brown Gives Natural-Looking Brows!

November 15, 2011 by Bun Bun 14 Comments

Let’s face it. Even though we are amazed by all those dramatic looks we see so much nowadays, we don’t wanna look like that all the time right? Natural-looking brows FTW!

Because my brows are naturally rather dense, I prefer brow product colors that serve to soften my brow hairs which are a harsh, fierce black.

Unless the look calls for strong eyebrows to balance an equally strong look with lotsa colors, which was what I did for the Native American Inspired Look, all my brow products are in shades of brown.

At the same time, I’m happy I have the Rimmel London Professional Eyebrow Pencil in Dark Brown in my stash otherwise the Native American look would have looked very odd with soft brown brows. Lol.

All my other brow products are in pencil form, manual or automatic, so I got The Face Shop Face It Designing Cake Eyebrow to see how an eyebrow cake powder works.

Two shades to mix and match

I can’t even tell you the names of the individual shades because they’re all in Korean. My best guess would be that, for 01 – Beige Brown, the lighter shade can be called Dark Beige and the darker shade can be called Dark Brown.

HAHAHA! Sorry, so unimaginative. >.<
