My Mascara Soul Mate: Lioele Blooming Volume & Curling Mascara

May 18, 2013 by Bun Bun 2 Comments

We may have been in a relationship with several people in our lives, but truly loved only one or two. That one being in the entire universe who gets all your lame jokes, humors you, plays with you, laughs and cries with you and thinks of your socially awkward  nuances as special.

Finding the perfect mascara is like meeting your soul mate. I may have gone through more tubes of mascaras than I have of fingers and toes, but have truly only loved two.

BAHAHAHAHA!!! What’s with all these analogies about soul mates and whatnots! Feeling particularly emotive on this cheery Saturday morning coz it’s Mode day! =P *whistles a happy song*

One of the two was the Lancome Oscillation Mascara, and the other, the subject of review for today – Lioele Volume & Curling Mascara.

How then, does one conclude that a particular mascara is destiny?

LOL! Okie okie, I’ll stop with all these cliched but nonetheless romantic finding-your-soul-mate talk.

Hello, soul mate.

Lioele-Volume-Curling-Mascara-Review-Photos-Makeup-Look_4

If I had to choose between eyeshadow and mascara, I’d take mascara anytime. Mascara opens up your peepers, darkens your lashes, and depending on type, does marvellous things such as volumizing, lengthening, curling, lash-separation and the confidence to flirt your eyes out.

How Does The Monistat Chafing Relief Gel Face Primer Perform After One Year?

May 16, 2013 by Bun Bun 1 Comment

Yup, this little tube of goodness lasted me one whole year and it cost me less than a haircut.

Nothing has changed one bit, the Monistat Soothing Care Chafing Relief Powder Gel is still my favorite face primer applied after moisturizer and before foundation, except the fact that it looks very much different from when I got it a year ago. The old one dries a lot faster on the skin too.

This extremely affordable primer is a must-have if you have oily skin and want to prevent makeup from sliding off your skin by afternoon. Make sure that your skin is not allergic to silicon though. I prefer the formula of the Monistat face primer over other popular face primers.

Teal-Turquoise Hair | 30% Off Hair Services at Salon Vim | Samsung Fashion Steps Out | CrabTree & Evelyn Somerset Meadow

When people ask me “Isn’t it damaging to change your hair color on a monthly basis??”, I smile and reply “Yes, if you don’t treat your hair after a dye/bleach job. But my hair now is SO MUCH healthier than it has ever been, all because of regular hair treatments”.

(I wonder if blonde works for me.)

Had to bleach it to allow the green/blue pigments to go on. I know bleaching sounds scary, I used to be fervently against the idea of bleaching because I’ve seen one too many cases of a botched bleach job. The idea of walking around with twigs as hair scared me endless.

6_With Wand_120Just so you know: On one of the occasions I was at Salon Vim, Gary told me that hair, even without any chemical infusion, requires occasional treatments to combat the damage acquired from products and environmental factors, and bring back shine and volume. So if you’ve dyed your hair, shouldn’t your hair be given even more tender loving care? :D

I was the first blogger to try out the Arimino Privy treatment (just happened to be there the morning after they launched it) and my stylist, Weng, was shocked that my hair instantly became so soft! Everyone who came to touch me hair commented that this new hair treatment is AMAZING!

You know what? For the entire month of May 2013, Salon Vim is giving a discount of 30% off all hair treatments! It’s a FANTASTIC deal, I must say. The Arimino Privy hair treatment costs $90-$160, depending on hair length, BEFORE DISCOUNT. What better time than now to give your hair some lovin’?

Oh, remember to quote ‘Juli‘ or ‘Bun Bun Makeup Tips‘ to get the 30%. Everyone at the salon calls me Bun Bun. Haha! I like to be called Bun Bun, it somehow sounds very endearing.

Lancome Mat Miracle 24H Foundation Review – Perfect Cover And Finish For Oily And Blemished Skin

It’s amazing – the Lancome Mat Miracle Foundation has triumphed all other foundations currently in my possession. 80% of the time I use this, while leaving the rest to be distributed among new foundations to be tested, existing ones which are pretty good but are overshadowed by Lancome Mat Miracle, and those not-so-suitable ones waiting to be given a second chance.

Truth be told, I was apprehensive when I received the Lancome Mat Miracle. I remember not having such a great experience with my previous Lancome Maqui Blanc Miracle Foundation despite my review, afterall. Skin changed and over time, my skin decided that the Maqui wasn’t to its liking – too greasy! It was, afterall, meant to give a glowy finish but my skin confuses glowy with oily, so… BLEAH.

But you know you’ve discovered gold when you reach for the same bottle of liquid foundation over and over. And I have, with the Lancome Mat Miracle.

At first glance my skin looks pretty okie here, especially with the very flattering lights from a makeshift makeup table at the Shu Uemura Gloss Unlimited event recently. But if you look closely, there are plenty of weird stuff going on on my face. Lol.

Love that it was ‘designed for Asian Skin’. :D

(WhOOps! I just only realized the ‘shake well before use’ instruction. I never looked so closely at the bottle before taking pictures for this review, that means I never shook it before. Teeheehee!)

Got To Know My Skin Better At Bellabox Event | Clarisonic | Goodbye Purple Hair

April 30, 2013 by Bun Bun 1 Comment

Bellabox-Event-Singapore-Antoinette-1

Bellabox-Event-Singapore-Antoinette-TITLE

Ah yes, let’s go back in time for a teeny wee bit when my hair was still pink-purple then purple. Haha! So much backlog, I need to get it on!

The Bellabox event was held at Antoinette, at Penhas Road. I’ve only been to the one at Mandarin Gallery outlet; the Penhas Road one was larger and allowed more space for intricate furnishings and charming ornaments.

Bellabox-Event-Singapore-Antoinette-2

Tsk. Look at Evonne‘s thick juicy lips. iJelly.

I look like Jessica‘s maidservant in her very posh mansion. HAHAHA!

Bellabox-Event-Singapore-Antoinette-3

This was the most interesting and useful booth! The friendly lady from Nuxe, who has really beautiful skin, did a detailed skin analysis for every single person who asked for one.

Bellabox-Event-Singapore-Antoinette-4

Bellabox-Event-Singapore-Antoinette-5

This is my skin analysis results! OMG. Thanks to this machine, I finally know my skin type. And all its horrible connotations.

It’s a little hard to read, isn’t it? Let me type it out:

  • Sebum (U): Much (L)
  • Sebum (T): Much (H)
  • Moisture (U): 27. Little
  • Moisture (T): 27. Little
  • Pore: 6. Very Large
  • Wrinkle: 8. Thick (H)
  • Pigmentation: 2. A little severe
  • Elasticity:  5. Very low
  • Skin Type: Oily (lack of moisture)

So I have a lot of sebum on my… basically, EVERYWHERE. Lol. Coz I have it on both the U and T zones. And despite having oily skin, my skin has very little moisture which means it is extremely dehydrated. And I have VERY LARGE PORES, THICK WRINKLES, a little SEVERE PIGMENTATION (the ‘a little’ really doesn’t ease the annoyance), and INELASTIC SKIN which means I’m a lot closer to the day when I poke myself in the cheek and the dent stays there for like 1.5 minutes.

THE HORRORRR!!!! >:(
