Makeup Tutorial: Golden Green, Lavender, Bronze And Life Of A Bun!

July 2, 2012 by Bun Bun 13 Comments

Here’s the makeup tutorial I promised! I wore this for the first NDP 2012 media event I attended with the bloggers, and it received plenty of compliments! It’s not dramatic or OTT, in fact, it’s very wearable and I would categorize it under a daily look. It’s also not too difficult to create. Try it! :)

Have you read my second post for NDP 2012? You can see my 16-year-old face. LOL.

EYE MAKEUP

Eyeshadow Primer – UDPP Eden

Eyelid – Makeup Geek Shimmermint (inner 2/3); Makeup Geek Unicorn (outer 1/3)

Inner Corner – Makeup Geek Shimma Shimma

Contour Area – Makeup Geek Cocoa Bear. I really love Cocoa Bear. The warm brown really blends nicely into my skintone.

Outer V – None

Brow Bone Highlight – Makeup Geek Shimma Shimma

Lower Lash Line – Urban Decay Smog

Eyeliner – L’Oreal Color Infallible Emerald Lame; Bobbi Brown Longwear Gel Liner Black Ink. I applied Emerald Lame first, then Black Ink over it so that a little Emerald Lame peeks out above Black Ink, for a more dimensional feel. Love this effect.

Eyelash Primer – Dior Diorshow Maximizer

Mascara – L’Oreal Collagene Mascara

Makeup Look Suitable for Dance Lessons or Maybe the Gym

September 19, 2011 by Bun Bun 7 Comments

Some people might think it is silly to get all dressed up for a workout session, be it on the dance floor or the gym. You are going to sweat it out anyway, right?

Yes, I am going to sweat it all out, but I want to look good doing it. Or at least, less horrifying. Haha!

While I prefer going all naked on the face when I go to the gym because gym workout is mostly a solo activity, I do make an effort to put on some makeup when I go for dance classes that require social interaction. (Oh, I just started taking up Salsa lessons and social dance sessions are great fun!)

Not because I want to bat my eyelashes at the opposite sex or impress people with my makeup skills and color coordination under the low lights, but because makeup gives me the confidence to get into the groove and dance better.

You want to make yourself feel good while exercising, so if hot pink shoelaces or a colorful bandana gives you that extra ounce of motivation, go for it! For me, some light eyeshadow color, eyeliner, and mascara works for me.

So here’s what I wore to a salsa dance class two weeks ago!

FACE

Face Primer – Murad Oil-Control Mattifier SPF 15

Foundation – Lancome Maqui Blanc MiracleLiquid Foundation SPF 26/PA++ (with Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki Brush)

Powder – MAC Studio Fix Foundation NC 25 (with EcoTools Blush Brush)

EYES

Eye Primer – Urban Decay Primer Potion Original

Lid – MAC Gorgeous Gold eyeshadow (with MAC 239)

Contour Area – MAC Peaches blush (with MAC 239 and MAC 217)

Can the Murad Oil-Control Mattifier SPF 15 Keep Oily Skin Shine-Free?

August 23, 2011 by Bun Bun 13 Comments

Many women think they are cursed with an oily T-zone, where oil glands work overtime at the forehead, nose and chin areas. Well, if they saw how soaked my blotting sheet is after a blotting session, they’d feel blessed that oiliness is concentrated only at their T-zone instead of the WHOLE FACE like mine.

I try as many methods and products possible (within reasonable budget and common sense, of course) to keep my face as shine-free as possible, at least for a good half of the day.

Mineral makeup worked up the oils on my skin within 2 hours and accentuated my pores, makeup face primers like the Stila Hydrating Primer turned me into an oil slick, liquid foundations that claim to give the ‘glowy finish’ usually give me the ‘greasy finish’ and sometimes even setting it with loose powder barely works.

Sigh, these are just fragments of an oily girl’s woes.

When I chanced upon a review on Youtube about the Murad Oil Control Mattifier SPF 15 being a great product that helps to keep shine away, I was immediately interested! Anything that controls oil!

Makeup Haul: Murad, MUFE, KOSE, Revlon, L’Oreal, The Brush Guard, e.l.f

April 8, 2011 by Bun Bun Leave a Comment

It’s amazing how these little bags of goodies can lift the spirits of a tired soul or make a happy person even happier. That’s why shopping is so addictive, especially online shopping! You never know the EXACT date the Happy Bag will arrive and the wait for parcel delivery is just so exciting!

Top row:

- Murad Oil-Control Mattifier SPF 15
- Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet + Matifying Foundation in No. 30
- KOSE Whitening Black Mask
- Revlon Colorstay Foundation in Buff

Bottom row:

- L’Oreal HIP Chrome Eyeliner in Violet Volt
– L’Oreal HIP Chrome Eyeliner in Silver Lighting
- e.l.f Complexion Brush
- MAC Eyeshader Brush #239
- L’Oreal HIP Bright Shadow Duo in Showy
- L’Oreal HIP Metallic Shadow Duo in Platinum
- The Brush Guard Variety Pack

I got my friend who was coming back from the US to get me the Murad Oil-Control Mattifier SPF 15 and Mat Velvet + Matifying Foundation in No. 30 coz they’re much cheaper over there. Makeup products at Sephora Singapore can easily cost S$10 more. I can’t wait to test the Revlon Colorstay Liquid Foundation. Really hope Buff will suit my skintone better than Sand Beige.
