Makeup Tutorial: Golden Green, Lavender, Bronze And Life Of A Bun!

July 2, 2012 by Bun Bun 13 Comments

Here’s the makeup tutorial I promised! I wore this for the first NDP 2012 media event I attended with the bloggers, and it received plenty of compliments! It’s not dramatic or OTT, in fact, it’s very wearable and I would categorize it under a daily look. It’s also not too difficult to create. Try it! :)

Have you read my second post for NDP 2012? You can see my 16-year-old face. LOL.

EYE MAKEUP

Eyeshadow Primer – UDPP Eden

Eyelid – Makeup Geek Shimmermint (inner 2/3); Makeup Geek Unicorn (outer 1/3)

Inner Corner – Makeup Geek Shimma Shimma

Contour Area – Makeup Geek Cocoa Bear. I really love Cocoa Bear. The warm brown really blends nicely into my skintone.

Outer V – None

Brow Bone Highlight – Makeup Geek Shimma Shimma

Lower Lash Line – Urban Decay Smog

Eyeliner – L’Oreal Color Infallible Emerald Lame; Bobbi Brown Longwear Gel Liner Black Ink. I applied Emerald Lame first, then Black Ink over it so that a little Emerald Lame peeks out above Black Ink, for a more dimensional feel. Love this effect.

Eyelash Primer – Dior Diorshow Maximizer

Mascara – L’Oreal Collagene Mascara

On Days When You Want To Look Just That Bit Perkier, Try Garnier BB Eye Roll-On Concealer Cum Eye Care

March 23, 2012 by Bun Bun 29 Comments

Tell me, who can resist the ooh-ing and aah-ings made by the guests of the popular Taiwan variety show Nu Ren Wo Zui Da make when the makeup/skincare/hair care coaches introduce products and new techniques?!?

I have a love-hate relationship with Nu Ren Wo Zui Da. I try as much as possible not to type in the words on YouTube because I always end up feeling exasperated at not being able to get hold of the highly raved products mentioned. Firstly, they never ever state the brand or product name; secondly, they try SO HARD to hide any indication at all with their hands and camera angles! Ugh! Sometimes I’ll try searching for the entire episode’s title + ‘chan pin (products)’, but more often than not I don’t get any results. Maybe there are Taiwanese websites that share these info freely but I CANNOT FIND. Booo… :(

There are no subtitles for this video; you can ask me questions in the comment section below if you need clarification on specific parts of the videos. Meanwhile, I’ll try my best to include as much information as possible in English in my Garnier BB Eye Roll-On review.

It was pure luck and genius that I managed to find the Garnier BB Eye Roll-On one day in Guardian and immediately knew it was the one Kelvin lao shi (as he is affectionately known. lao shi = teacher) was using! YES!!!

I must’ve had a sip of Felix Felicis (‘liquid luck’ mentioned in Half-Blood Prince) that day because not only did I find it, it was ON SALE! It normally costs SGD22.90 but I got it for SGD16.90. There was no reason not to grab it. I initially got ‘Light’ without realizing, and swapped for ‘Natural’ after paying for it. I didn’t want to risk having white patches under my eye.

I am MAC NC20-25 for reference, and Natural is just nice.

Native American Inspired Look for Makeup Geek Weekly Challenge

November 11, 2011 by Bun Bun 12 Comments

MakeupGeek has had her Weekly Challenge going on for ages, but I’ve never participated. I used to look at the submissions and thought “Wow, are these people all makeup artists?? I could never do that.”

That was the time when my eye makeup was all but eyeliner and mascara. And I didn’t have bunbunmakeuptips.com to constantly push myself to explore new makeup products and looks.

I don’t know what sparked my interest this time. I don’t even know anything much about the culture and history of Native Americans. But I send in something this time, and had tremendous fun creating it!

So I went to google for pictures for inspiration. Found many, but they didn’t quite attract me.

Until I saw this:

I love the contrast of Obama’s formal black suit against the tribal war chief’s colorful head dress.

And so I did this!

Halloween Geisha Costume, Hair and Makeup Tutorial

November 6, 2011 by Bun Bun 19 Comments

*whispers

Konnichiwa my friends… Welcome to the sacred session of geisha makeup. Today we will learn how to whiten the face, apply red eyeshadow, contour the face, and get that famous red pout…

Hmmm? You’re asking how to create the bloodied side of my face? That wasn’t a creation, my dear…

*giggles in shrill laughter

LOL!

Okie. Ahem.

(Check out more pictures of my Halloween nights as a geisha here!)

Geisha Costume

2 weeks before, I didn’t have any idea what/who I wanted to be for Halloween this year.

My best friend and I went to check out some costume shops in Singapore with zero intention to rent any. We just wanted to get into the Halloween mood and see ourselves in weird costumes.

MAC Studio Fix Foundation NC25 Review – For Great Coverage and Convenience!

October 20, 2011 by Bun Bun 12 Comments

Before I started using liquid foundation, it was compact powders all the way. They are easy to apply, great for travel, and most brands carry them. Mid-way, I switched to mineral foundation having heard all the good stuff about it. I tried the Bare Escentuals Mineral Foundation but my skin didn’t react well too it. So I went back to compacts and one of my favorites was the MAC Studio Fix.

I liked it so much I went out to get a backup, way before the first one panned out. When something’s that good, you just wanna use it forever, right? =DDD

Evens Out Skin Tone

I have under eye circles, redness around the nose, uneven skin tone aplenty. The MAC Studio Fix Foundation does quite a good job in drastically reducing all these imperfections. It does not hide hideous acne well on its own though.
