My New Love: Lioele Powdery Sun Chiffon SPF 50 Matte Face Primer For Oily Skin

I didn’t think any other face primer could contest my affection for the aesthetically non-pleasing but nevertheless amazing Monistat Relief Chafing Powder-Gel, until I got my hands AND FINGERPRINTS on Lioele Powdery Sun Chiffon Face Primer. Why fingerprints? You Pretty Little Thing The Lioele …

Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadows Review: As Eyeshadow Base, Eyeshadow, Eyeliner! (PLUS Plenty Of Eye Makeup Tips!)

Why it took me ages to finally try to the Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadows is beyond me. How could they be so awesome, yet stayed in my Doll To Doll Cosmetics inventory without me feeling the exploding urge to try them out despite ALL THE RAVING on the internet about them? Seriously, when these …

Colorful Eye Makeup Tutorial: Asians Can Rock Multi-Color Eye Makeup Looks Too!

It’s a good thing I always write down, somewhere, the products used for makeup looks. I knew I would be less shy to put up more makeup looks one day. Yup, I have trouble with putting pictures of myself up on my own blog. I’m shy. It’s just so weird seeing photos of myself on my blog, even …

Eyeshadow Tutorial for Asian Eyes Part 4 – Defining the Contour Area

Okie, I have officially run out of excuses to further delay publishing this. Haha. But it’s not like I was lazy; I simply couldn’t bear to do it because doing it means being one post closer to the end of this series! I’m absurdly sentimental, I know. But Bun Bun’s gotta do what Bun …

6 Different Ways to Use the MAC 188 Small Duo Fibre Face Brush

August 4th, 2011 by Bun Bun

The first tool I used to apply highlighter was my good ol’ ring finger. Sometimes it would apply too heavily, sometimes it would be hard to blend out, but most times it just took up too much time to create natural-looking highlights on my cheekbones. I have a flat face, I need to fake me some cheekbones! >.<”

The second tool I used was a regular fluffy eyeshadow brush from e.l.f. It picked up a more consistent amount of product, blended better, but still was lacking very much in the blending department. Sometimes I’d look like I was channelling my inner Queen Amidala, except that they’re 2 sparkly white dots instead of 2 rouge-red ones. The elf fluffy eyeshadow wasn’t made to do this so I’m not faulting it.

Then I got to know about the MAC 188 Small Duo Fibre Brush and the rest, they say, is blotchy powder application history.

MAC Gold-Go-Lightly Studio Careblend Pressed Powder: As Contouring Powder, Blush, And Eyeshadow

August 1st, 2011 by Bun Bun

Every time MAC rolls out their weekly limited edition collection, I’ll roll my eyes too. @_@

Established beauty bloggers can receive the whole suite of products from the collection and will give details on the eyeshadows, lipsticks, lipglosses, powder, prices, DA-BER-DEE-DA, and I usually don’t give a hoot about their loot.

I mean, how many of us, with regular, fixed income, have the financial ability to fork out so much money for one collection? And it’s not like each collection has very unique products to die for. More often than not, the eyeshadow colors repeat or are just slightly darker, slightly lighter and really don’t make a BIG DIFFERENCE on the eyes once you mix them with other colors and blend them out. =(

It is also because of the fact that MAC Singapore prices its products at least S$10 more expensive than in the US (#109 Small Contour Brush costs S$20 more here! Ugh!) that I rarely find myself casually browsing the black MAC shelves. I enter a MAC shop with a mission – to swatch a color, see a brush, or ask for a specific product. Then I buy online. LOL.

So it was one of those mission-filled days that I stepped in and asked the MUA for a contouring powder shade for my NC20-25 skin undertone. I’ve read on countless blogs that MAC Emote blush is the best color for contouring but it was discontinued long ago much to the utter dismay of thousands of fans around the world. It was kinda substituted by Harmony. A well-known dupe for Emote is NYX blush in Taupe but Taupe looks disgustingly muddy on me so I use it as an eyebrow powder sometimes instead.

Revlon Illuminance Creme Shadow Quad In Wild Orchids: Pretty, But A Total Waste Of Money

July 26th, 2011 by Bun Bun

Drugstores in Singapore never carry the full range of Revlon cosmetics, not even the Revlon counters found in Metro or Robinsons. Hear my rant on the inadequacy of cosmetics range in Singapore here.

Imagine my ecstasy when I saw the Revlon Illuminance Creme Shadow Quad in Wild Orchids in a Watsons store at Ximending during my trip to Taiwan! I’d long heard of these cream eyeshadows but they never appeared on our shelves. It felt surreal to actually hold in my hand the chic black palette with small clear plastic circles that pop out.

There was no tester but I didn’t care and immediately grabbed it! I think we are more susceptible to impulse shopping when on holidays. These thoughts might sound familiar:

“I can’t find this back home!”

“It must be cheaper here”

“What’s one more item in the basket?”

“I’ve already got the currency exchanged, might as well use it all”

Well, these thoughts certainly ran wild in my mind when I was considering whether to buy the Revlon crème eyeshadow quad.

It didn’t help that it was the last one on the left too! So I had another thought to add:

“It’s the last one! It must be very popular, that’s why!”

This is definitely a good example of why most things bought on impulse turn out to be completely useless. Bah.

My Travel Makeup Essentials For A Seven Day Trip To Taiwan

July 24th, 2011 by Bun Bun

Besides beauty product reviews and makeup tutorials, I love reading posts about beauty bloggers sharing with their readers on ‘What’s in my purse’, ‘My top 5 beauty products’, ‘Makeup essentials for a trip’, you know, lists of favorites.

I’d just returned from a trip to Taiwan when I read Leesha’s post on what she brought on a trip. So that inspired me to write mine too! The picture above is also a Taiwan Tourism Logo inspired-picture! Must not copy exactly though, copyright issues! XD

I actually meant to get this post up long ago. Like reeeeeeaaaaalllllyyyy long ago. 5 months? It somehow got buried under and I cleanly forgot about it. But it’s a good thing though, since now I would have reviewed more products than I did 4 months ago.

Some of the products mentioned in this post I may have stopped using by the time of writing – like mascara which must not be used for more than 6 months, and others which I may have found better alternatives. It’s been 4 months, things get used up and there’s always a new contender! =)

Now let’s get started!

Here are what I brought with me on my seven days Taiwan trip!

I just HAD to bring that many makeup items. And I haven’t even started on the tools yet!

I really tried to cut down, but these are my travel makeup essentials! XD
