Sonia Kashuk Hidden Agenda Concealer Palette – To Hide Dark Eye Circles And Blemishes

June 25, 2011 by Bun Bun 3 Comments

Let’s together now say BUH-BYE! to dark eye circles that would put a vampire to shame and glaring red areas on the face that make us look like we’ve been slapped with a rubber band!

In a pretty, white, and fuss-free slim compact, the Sonia Kashuk is extremely portable with a magnetic lid that snaps tight shut. Through the transparent lid you can see a quad of concealer colors – salmon, light beige, (dirty) green, and a powder.

How to use the Sonia Kashuk concealer palette?

To prevent the concealer from caking up under the eye and on specific areas on the face, use an eye cream before applying any eye makeup and allow it to be fully absorbed. I use the KOSE Sekkisei Eye Cream, which does a great job at moisturizing yet feels light on the skin.

Salmon – Medium concealer to counteract dark blue undereye circles.

Light beige – Light concealer to brighten up an area that has been concealed with the Salmon or Green shades.

Green – Green undertone neutralizer to counteract redness like light blemishes and around the nose area.

Powder – Translucent setting powder to be used on top of the concealers.

Use a concealer brush with synthetic bristles to pick up product, apply it on targeted areas, and then blend it out with your ring finger.

And now, my review on the Sonia Kashuk Hidden Agenda Concealer Palette.

Matches my skin undertone

As of now, this concealer palette comes only in ONE shade variety. Despite the rage in the makeup and beauty community that it is a palette designed for only one type of skin undertone, there seems to be no plans to expand the range of colors.

As you can hand mix the concealers, this is nice for fair to medium complexions. I can only count myself lucky that I am a MAC NC20-25. People with skin undertones above NC30 will find the shades too light.

Mix and Match Shades

The three concealer colors allow anyone within MAC NC20-30 to mix and find the best shade to hide imperfections. Some use green + salmon, some use light beige + salmon, others use salmon + light beige… You get the picture.

Texture

Some people say that their palette is so dry and they have to warm it up with their fingers every time. I have no such problem.

Maybe it’s the humid weather in Singapore that keep things wet and oily all the time – I don’t know to rejoice or sulk. LOL. Anyhow, I love that the texture is so creamy and extremely blendable.

I use my cheap and reliable concealer brush from SASA to pick up product, apply it on the targeted area, and blend it out with my fingers.

The texture is so creamy! It’s very pigmented and doesn’t crease or cake up! I apply this either with my fingers if I’m in a hurry or my Mac 224 for an air brushed finish.

Pigmentation

The concealers are creamy as well as very pigmented. Although not as thick as in consistency as the Amazing Cosmetics Amazing Concealer, the Sonia Kashuk concealers work pretty well too. I don’t have severe undereye circles – I suffer from something else: eyebags that are puffy and as big as my eyes – so the Sonia Kashuk salmon concealer is good enough for covering my undereye circles. In faact, since it is lighter in consistency, it tends to settle less into my fine lines.

Very good value

For U$10, I consider it a fantastic buy since you technically get 4 products, and 3 very good ones at that. The powder I don’t really like as it doesn’t stay on for long, and isn’t very finely milled either. Oh, and the Sonia Kashuk concealer palette is only available at Target.

Blended in. See, good match for MAC NC20-25.

If you are in a rush for time, this mix-and-match fun concealer palette will not be the one you’ll want to reach for because some blending of colors is required. Nevertheless, for its creaminess, pigmentation and most importantly, ability to conceal blemishes, I find myself reaching out for this palette over any other concealer a lot more.

Hmm, this looks like it could be a lot of fun to test and see what colors would look best for under my eyes! Though you're right, if I'm a rush I doubt that I'd reach for this (I use Bobbi Brown's corrector). I'd love to try out the green on my stubborn acne spots. And yeah, I LOVE that price! :D

I'm definitely getting it soon! I'm going to get mine through Under-Twenty20 @ blogspot...she sells it on her blog. She's on holiday at the moment buying more make up from korea! Can't wait till she's back...I gotta get my hands on that concealer palette and some other things she has!
