Lancome Mat Miracle 24H Foundation Review – Perfect Cover And Finish For Oily And Blemished Skin

May 5, 2013 by Bun Bun 15 Comments

Lancome-Mat-Miracle-24H-Foundation-BO-01-Review,-Swatches,-Photos

It’s amazing – the Lancome Mat Miracle Foundation has triumphed all other foundations currently in my possession. 80% of the time I use this, while leaving the rest to be distributed among new foundations to be tested, existing ones which are pretty good but are overshadowed by Lancome Mat Miracle, and those not-so-suitable ones waiting to be given a second chance.

Truth be told, I was apprehensive when I received the Lancome Mat Miracle. I remember not having such a great experience with my previous Lancome Maqui Blanc Miracle Foundation despite my review, afterall. Skin changed and over time, my skin decided that the Maqui wasn’t to its liking – too greasy! It was, afterall, meant to give a glowy finish but my skin confuses glowy with oily, so… BLEAH.

But you know you’ve discovered gold when you reach for the same bottle of liquid foundation over and over. And I have, with the Lancome Mat Miracle.

At first glance my skin looks pretty okie here, especially with the very flattering lights from a makeshift makeup table at the Shu Uemura Gloss Unlimited event recently. But if you look closely, there are plenty of weird stuff going on on my face. Lol.

Love that it was ‘designed for Asian Skin’. :D

(WhOOps! I just only realized the ‘shake well before use’ instruction. I never looked so closely at the bottle before taking pictures for this review, that means I never shook it before. Teeheehee!)

The One Foundation I Would Bring With Me Anywhere In The World: Bourjois 123 Perfect Foundation Review

December 6, 2012 by Bun Bun 39 Comments

Even though I now have my own online beauty store (dolltodoll.com), things are not going to change much. I still do use brands outside of those we carry, obviously, and will continue writing beauty product reviews that reflect my honest opinions.

And it’s about time – wayyyyyy past time, actually – that I do a detailed review on the Bourjois 123 Perfect Foundation before you all give up on me. Lol! You guys cannot imagine how many emails I’ve received asking when is this review gonna be up. Thank you for your patience! :D

So ever since I started using the Bourjois 123 Perfect Foundation, I feel like going back to my reviews on Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation and Bourjois Flower Perfection Foundation and downgrade their ratings.

Not that they’re lousy, they were good in their own ways but had some elements I didn’t fancy so much – Healthy Mix in shade 52 was a good shade match but its oil control abilities didn’t quite make the mark; Flower Perfection had a nice matte finish and lovely fragrance but shade 53 was too light. I wrote them when I was using them and penned my honest opinions. That was way before the Perfect Foundation (literally) came to our shores.

I guess it’s not fair to go back and change their ratings now that the 123 Perfect Foundation has come along. We must always seek improvement, not dwell in the past! :D

Easy To Blend; Dries Matte Not Flat

The Bourjois 123 Perfection Foundation is a medium-thick liquid that dries as a powder with a matte finish which I prefer. The slight powdery finish feels light on the skin, and does not look cakey or unnatural even when layered on. Two layers is the maximum I go, but one would usually suffice. It is quickly absorbed into the skin and gives a second skin sensation so that it feels light and comfortable to wear throughout the day. (Why does this sound just right for a sanitary pad advertisement?! BAHAHAHA!)

This natural-looking foundation also exhibits less tendency to oxidize on my skin. Bourjois 123 Perfection Foundation in shade 52 is just right for me (MAC NC20-25). I still wonder why the Bourjois Flower Perfection in shade 52 was so off the mark.

It became quite the perfect foundation for my Halloween costume this year though (more to come!).

With SPF 10. Shade 52 is also known as Vanilla.

This foundation would, however, not sit well for those with drier skin as it does not give the dewy look that people with dry skin often look for. For people with oily skin, or even normal-combination skin in Singapore (because of our hot and humid weather), THIS IS DOPE.

Best Foundation For Oily Skin in Humid Weather: MAKE UP FOR EVER Mat Velvet + Matifying Foundation

August 28, 2011 by Bun Bun 11 Comments

Anything that has ‘MAT’ in it makes me sit upright, my eyes open doubly large, and forget to blink as I read review after review of how that product mattifies the skin, controls oil, and reduces shine. I’m a mattifying junkie, whatever that means. Haha!

I was actually doing reasearch on the Make Up For Ever HD Foundation but wasn’t convinced it was good for me since many claim it gives a dewy finish. I try to avoid foundations that promise a dewy finish because for oily skins, a dewy finish more often than not melts into a greasy finish. It was with great excitement that I discovered the MAKE UP FOR EVER Mat Velvet + Matifying Foundation!

If you have oily skin like me, live in a hot and humid climate like Singapore, or just want a solution to keep your face less shiny, then buckle up and explore what I think is the best mattifying foundation yet! YAY!

From Sephora:

A shine controlling, oil-free, water-resistant, complete coverage liquid foundation.

Hides imperfections, evens out skin tone, and mattifies with a non-oily, perfectly powdered finish. The result is flawless and lasts for hours.

Although this foundation provides full coverage, the end result is completely adjustable to fit your needs – a little goes a long way.

Packaging

Packed in a lightweight, frosted, rubber-textured bottle, the Mat Velvet + Foundation travels well without you having to worry about it spilling or breaking. Think easily breakable glass bottles like Revlon Colorstay Foundation and Lancome Maqui Blanc Miracle Foundation. The MUFE foundation bottle is so light I thought it had less content than the other brands! But nope, they all contain 30ml.

Revlon Colorstay Foundation Shades For NC20-25

June 5, 2011 by Bun Bun 59 Comments

There is nothing more exasperating than going to a store, knowing that it carries the brand of product you want, and then getting hit hard in the face when you see that it carries LIMITED SHADES of the foundation. Not even those counters at Metro or BHG carry the full range of Revlon Colorstay Foundation shades.

Okie, drama queen, there is more to life than frowning over foundation shades.

But mannnnn!!! Why do they do this to us?

There are 20 shades for the Revlon ColorStay Makeup with SoftFlex liquid foundation. Guess how many people in Singapore are entitled to?

A grand total of 5.

F.I.V.E!!!

In the picture are Sand Beige (left; available in all drugstores) and Buff (right; not available in any drugstore). They are just one shade apart, but make a whole lot of difference.

A WHOLE LOT.
