Learnt To Love It The Hard Way: Clio Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Gel Liner Review

September 21, 2012 by Bun Bun 26 Comments

They say true love persists and triumphs all odds. So it must be true love that had me continue using the Clio Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Gel Liner even when it was blunt, broken, and almost hopeless.

I was out with a girlfriend, Qi, some many months ago, when we stopped by Clio’s makeup counter that had a new range of products – Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Gel Liner.

I’m hardly ever inclined to get new products on the market and prefer to wait around for reviews before deciding whether to throw good money at it. Somehow, that day, I had a calling. No, actually, more like the silly salesgirl told us the booth would be gone by the weekend and the Clio eyeliners will not be available until November. That was in May. However, by the very next weekend, the pencils were everywhere. -.-“

Good marketing strategy though. Instil FEAR.

I swatched the Clio Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Gel Liner and had to pretend it wasn’t anything much in front of the promoter so she wouldn’t know I was actually VERY impressed with the swatches. I like to keep my cool in front of promoters lest they pounce on my vulnerability. LOL.

Add to that the FEAR strategy and I was 98% sold. The 2% came from Qi who said “I’m gonna get it”. Okie. $18.90 down on something I hardly knew anything about.

I got the brown, she got the black and we had a chance of spinning the wheel for a price. Got a silly tiny bottle of eye makeup remover. But the first prize was hardly enticing either, some trolley bag or something.

Love Child Of Gel And Pencil

I LOVE that they’re very much like gel liners – the lasting power, smoothness, glidability – but in pencil form for greater convenience and lower price.

I used Star Purple and Metalic Silver in this purple-blue-green-yellow makeup tutorial.

If Words Could Kill, So Could The Korean Clio Professional Waterproof Brush Liner Kill Black

February 14, 2012 by Bun Bun 30 Comments

Had I gotten hold of the Clio Professional Waterproof Kill Black Brush Liner when I first started experimenting with liquid liners, I dare say my adoration for gel liners would have been repressed.

My two greatest regret eyeliner purchases stand ostensibly in the wands of the MAC Liquidlast Liner in Inky and Lancome Artliner because they never fail to make me sigh whenever I try to create miracles with them. Them lying there useless in the corner makes me go ‘tsk’.

One, or two, (okie more than a few) expensive setbacks will not make me throw the towel and swear never to go near liquid eyeliners, as proven by the successful chance acquisition of the Bourjois Glitter Eye Liners. Nevertheless, I’ve become more cautious with buying liquid eyeliners!

I first tried the Clio Waterproof Kill Black Brush Liner at Ngee Ann City Watsons – which has the largest makeup brands and collections at any Watsons in Singapore – and immediately feel in love with it!

I swatched it once, went ‘WOW’, walked away, swatched afain, went ‘OMFG’, walked away, swatched again, and told myself this must be another ‘TGTBT’ (Too Good To Be True) product.

Like a lovelorn teenager nursing a crush, I couldn’t get the Clio Waterproof Brush Liner Kill Black out of my mind.
